Case Jernigan’s new work will be shown at Corrigan Gallery for the month of December with an opening Friday, December 4 from 5-8pm as part of the Charleston Gallery Association’s artwalk. Please join us downtown at 62 Queen Street to celebrate this Charleston gentleman’s new work with him present.
Local artist, living and working in New York, Case Jernigan saw a huge bump in his works’ popularity when his animated cutouts of “A Brief History of Soccer” screened in New York and Denver. It can be seen on Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/131247353). He has also created a 60 second Halloween animation, Werewolf Horseman Mummy with a fellow artist composing the music. For the collaboration Jernigan films stop-motion footage of ink drawings with handmade paper creating his own style of storytelling. Working with a fellow teammate lead to the creation ofA Brief History of Soccer, a 5 minute animated tour of the world's favorite sport. One of Jernigan's ongoing projects, Off-Foot, is centered around soccer inspired art. These artworks have been featured by The Guardian, The Telegraph and FC Barcelona.
Case Jernigan studied formally at the College of William & Mary and the New York Studio School. He has shown in Charleston, Virginia and New York. Since his last show in Charleston he has had two solo exhibits in New York and been in group shows at Phillips Exeter Academy, Brooklyn, Connecticut and New York.
Jernigan’s newest works are both cutouts and drawings from the Halloween series and from his ongoing Italian series. Fresh yet referential, these works bring and contemporary edge (pun intended) to traditional subjects. Come see the works and the video.
