Lowcountry Artist Gallery - Art for Arthritis Reception

Lowcountry Artists Gallery

Art for Arthritis Reception: August 22, 2-4pm

Most people don’t think about children when they hear the word, “arthritis.” It’s a common misconception that arthritis is an older person’s disease and natural outcome of aging. Arthritis affects people of all ages and origins. In fact, more than 4,000 kids in South Carolina have juvenile arthritis.

Art for Arthritis is a unique experience that matches local artists with children who have juvenile arthritis. Together, they turn challenging and painful situations into beautiful and inspiring pieces of art.

Bridgette Sauder (17-years-old, Summerville, SC) is one of the 12 participating local kids. She was diagnosed with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis when she was 13-years-old.

These special artworks are on display now and available for sale at the Lowcountry Artists Gallery, at 148 East Bay St  in Charleston through September.

Then, on October 3, 2015, the Arthritis Foundation is hosting Art for Arthritis, A D’Vine Affair, at the Memminger Auditorium in Charleston, SC. The children’s artwork will be featured and auctioned with proceeds supporting programs, services and research for people who have arthritis throughout South Carolina. Tickets are available online and at Lowcountry Artists Gallery.
