Join us on Gallery Row in the famed Charleston Historic District for an enchanting evening of fine art at the Mary Martin Gallery! This November, we proudly present a collaborative show by two of our very unique artists. The imaginative paintings by Yury Darashkevich will line the walls in harmony with the whimsical sculptures by Nelson Grice. Join us as we welcome these two wonderful artists to Charleston on Friday, December, 1st 5-8 PM.
Nelson Grice will be featuring a brand new collection of work: "Animachinations" - Schemes, tricks, and wiles are all present in Grice’s animated characters. From his imagination to our gallery, the work of Nelson Grice never ceases to amuse its viewers. “Everything is fresh and new each time I come into the studio. I bring out my parts and pieces and just build. It makes me feel like a child again”. It is Nelson’s hope that when you meet one of his pieces it will make you smile, make you laugh, and make its way into your heart and home.
"Wandering Light" by Yury Darashkevich emphasizes the significance of light in a painting, showing its ability to change the ambiance of a landscape- from dawn to dusk. “It is all about motions and emotions that shape the fragile and unstable element of the human consciousness such as beauty. I collect loose emotions as purposely-scattered elements of the image, and bring them back together to discover the definition of altered beauty.” - Yury Darashkevich
Art Walk and Show Opening: Friday December 1st, 5:00-8:00 PM
