Join us tomorrow from 5-8pm for the reception to celebrate Catherine Booker Jones' solo exhibit, Colour Inherited.
Working out of her studio in Birmingham, Alabama, Jones is strongly influenced by the painters of the early 20th century. Her first priority is her color palette; all of her paintings are influenced by her fascination with color theory. “Color is the crux of my process, from beginning to end,” said Jones. But color isn’t the only thing that sets her work apart. There is a feeling of lightness and transience in her canvases. She doesn’t put any more paint on the canvas than is necessary. It becomes quickly apparent to the viewer that each element in her paintings is well thought-out and considered.
