MARY MARTIN GALLERY | JULIA KLIMOVA

Join us on Gallery Row in the famed Charleston Historic District for an enchanting evening of fine art at the Mary Martin Gallery! This May, we proudly present “Gaze of Spring” by Julia Klimova.  Painting for Julia Klimova is a passion, a fascinating process of seeing, which alters the vision of things.  This can be perceived in her beautiful landscapes, still-lifes, and portraits.  What is seen is never what is painted, yet the painting becomes a new reality.  Join us as we welcome Julia to our Broad Street gallery on Friday, May 4th 5-8 PM.

In each of Julia’s paintings she focuses on the idea and unusual composition that conveys the mood and creates a fresh look at the subject.  Klimova strives to use vibrant but precise colors to enhance the emotional message of her paintings.   Since childhood painting was always a door to another new world:  "You know where to go, but you only have a vague idea of what you will find there.  This discovery is always an absorbing and exciting experience."  Born and raised in southern Russia, Julia feels that her creativity has been largely formed by the accumulated childhood images of beauty in nature and life.

"In this show, Gaze of Spring, I collect special pieces which reflect my search for beauty in different shapes and forms. I strive to catch something unspoken, a flash of light that connects to my inner self. I find women and flowers to be the most beautiful and easy to observe subjects. They are my main guide lights for looking for a special emotion and a beauty vibe. They help me convey ideas of uniqueness of each human being, their personal experience and simply the joy of life." – Julia Klimova
